Tropical Traditions Skin Exfoliator Review & Giveaway

I absolutely love Tropical Traditions! I have featured this company many times on my blog, and love their coconut oil based products! I am doing another review with them, and this time I am trying the Unscented Skin Exfoliator! This exfoliator is really great! It is a mix of sea salt, organic Virgin coconut oil, organic jojoba and organic Virgin palm oil.  I have tried lots of exfoliators but I think this is my favorite!

The first time I used this exfoliator I immediately noticed a difference! The sea salt gets rid of the dead skin cells, and the oils help to moisturize.  It left me feeling a bit greasy for a little bit, but once my skin absorbed the oils my skin felt very soft. It works really great on all parts of the body, I especially like it for the feet! And since it's unscented even a guy could use it without feeling girly.  There are no alcohols, artificial fragrances or petroleum in the exfoliator.  This is something every one should definitely try to help with dry skin! Exfoliating is a really important part of your routine, and this stuff works great! 

The founders of Tropical Traditions are Brian and Marianita Shilhavy.  In 1998 Brian  and Marianita returned to the Philippines with their three children and renovated Marianita's old family farmhouse. By this time the coconut industry was severely depressed due to the negative U.S. campaigns against tropical oils in the 1980s and 1990s. Coconut farmers could no longer support their families on the income generated from harvesting coconuts. This couple tried a method the older generation used to extract the oil by grating the fresh coconut, extracting the coconut milk, and then letting the coconut milk stand in a covered container for about 24 hours. After about 24 hours, the oil naturally separates from the water producing a crystal clear oil that retains the full scent and taste of coconuts.  This proved successful, and they began using this for their own families.  They still use traditional methods for their products today!

Keeping My Family Happy

With three kids, a husband and a dog, it isn't always easy to keep everyone happy.  But I feel as the mom that's my job, so I try my hardest! There are lots of little things I do, and a few bigger ones too! Here are my tips for keeping your family happy!

1-Keep a clean house! Get everyone involved in keeping things clean, because if your space is clean, you are less stressed and happier overall! This also helps your kids to develop these skills and not think of it as a chore but as a daily routine!

2-Get outside! Sunshine=Happiness in my book! I am loving the sunshine and finally warmer weather! It is a great time to go to the park, walk around the block or just hang out in the yard! Getting active keeps you happy too, so involve everyone!

3-Eat healthy! Good nutrition will lead to a happier healthier family.   Feeding delicious and nutritious meals isn't as hard as some may think! Try browsing for recipes online-you can find just about anything and there are some AMAZING meals to be made!

4-Turn off the t.v.! Get connected with your kids  by reading a story, playing a board game or whatever they want to play.  Spending this quality time with your kids will make them SO happy, and with DVR you don't have the excuse that your show is on!

5-Take time for you and your spouse!  Keeping that relationship and that spark will make you guys happier, which in turn will make your kids happier.  Take time to do fun, new things, to keep things fresh and exciting. Trust me, you will feel like you're a teen in love ALL over again. ☺

6-Be Happy yourself!! When mom is happy everyone is happy right? Treat yourself when you need it, and take time for yourself.  When you are calm and happy, everyone in the family will follow suit. We all feel like its our duty to keep our families happy, but our first duty is to keep ourselves happy.

So there you have my 6 tips to keep your family happy! Family is the most important thing to me, so keeping my family happy is my overall goal! They might not always get what they want, but knowing they are happy with what they have is something I always try to teach my kids. And it is important to remember-You can't make EVERYONE happy EVERY time.

These are a few of my favorite things...

Easter is coming fast, and I couldn't be more excited! Easter to me is one of the best holidays! I like to think of it as the kick off to spring.  Everything is fresh and new, and we get out of the winter blues FINALLY! Easter is the time when we get together with family, celebrate the reason for the holiday, and create memories for our kids.  I know some of my best memories were Easter egg hunts at grandma's, and going to the public hunts where you try to win big prizes.  I try to do memorable things with my own kids so they can look back on fond memories when they are grown up.

Some really fun things to do with your kids for Easter can be cheap or some even free! The best Easter tradition has got to be decorating eggs.  As a kid, I remember our mom setting out all sorts of different colors, and we had so much fun decorating our own eggs.  If you want to make a cool design, use a white crayon when you start, and when you dye it you will see the design! These little things are easy to do, even with small kids, and you can eat the eggs later!

And the second best tradition is hunting for the Easter eggs. I recommend using plastic eggs, because you don't want to lose an egg and let it go bad! Kids love looking for the eggs and opening them to see what goodies there are.  I know a family who would put money in a golden and silver egg, and the kid who finds it wins the money.  I like the method of having the kids name on the egg, so everyone gets the same thing and if you find an egg that isn't yours, leave it.  My grandma also would make us a scavenger hunt for our Easter basket.  That was more fun than finding the eggs!  She did the best clues and it was a tradition I looked forward to every year!

In our town we have a big Easter Egg hunt you get to do at a local park.  It costs money to go in, but you can score some really great prizes and it's fun to go to those types of events.  There are other Easter Egg hunts that are free in the area, so it's a good idea to check your town for free events.  We have one at a retirement home, and its free and so much fun! They offer snacks and drinks and divide the hunts into different age groups.

Finally, I love having dinner with family.  It is a special day for a reason, and I think dinner is a great way to celebrate that reason.  We enjoy wonderful food and each others company.  This is something I think every family should do for the holiday.  Often we are so busy in our day to day lives that we miss out on the family gathering, so we make the effort to do it during these special days.

I love this site and I was super excited to find out they carry my fave kids product-Piggy Paint! Now I can get my favorite kids nail polish where I get all sorts of other great goodies!  My three little girls divas LOVE doing their nails, so I use polishes that I know are safe for them. Piggy Paint is the best kids polish I have found! This polish is water based, is non flammable and has no nasty chemicals! It is free of formaldehyde, toluene, phthalates, biphenyl A, ethyl acetate and acetone... and made in the USA!

I really love all their colors! I got to try out the Love Bug Hug Set, a Valentine's exclusive! I even used them on myself when I did the kids nails! I have tried Piggy Paints before, but really liked the colors in this set! The Forever Fancy was my favorite! I liked having all three colors cause we did little designs on the pink polish with the red, like stripes and dots.  I also did alternating colors for the baby.

Hasbro Ji Ga Zo Puzzle Game Review

I like puzzles but don't like to do the same one over and over. I found a way to spend less money on puzzles and a way to do any picture you want for your puzzle! It's called Ji Ga Zo, and it's from Hasbro!  This unique puzzle game allows you to upload your favorite photo, create a map as a guide to do the puzzle, then get to work!




Ji Ga Zo, a revolutionary new product, allows you to use photos to create personalized puzzles. In fact, you can use the same 300 pieces in the puzzle to make virtually any image – a child, spouse, friend, pet or celebrity! U Stripe Paint Designer Tool Reveiw & Giveaway

Spring is finally arriving! At least it is in my neck of the woods! That means time to clean up the house and fix it all up! One fun project to tackle is painting! And one thing I like to do is adding stripes! They give your walls dimension and looks so nice! But it can be really difficult to get them straight and even.  That is why I love the U Stripe It design tool!

They sent me one of their tools to use.  Truth be told, I am not the family handyman, my husband is.  And since he has lots of experience painting I thought I would let him check it out!  What was really cool is that you can make any kind of stripes, including diagonal.  I haven't seen anything like this, and on other painting jobs my husband has always had to meticulously measure the stripes and tape them off.  This tool allows you to get the perfect size and make the job a lot easier. They even sent us 2 rolls of the blue painters tape! That gave us the tools we needed to get the job done-all we had to do was get the paint!

The U Stripe Design tool is only $27.95 and right now you can get a free roll of painters tape when you buy it! This a great deal for the tool because you can use and reuse it so many times! The tool was created by John Menendez, a painter for the last 30 years.  He used it on his jobs, and when others saw it, they thought it would be easy for anyone to use and convinced him to market the product. This turned the work of the professional look of stripes into a job for the average person! His son Phillip Menendez is the distributor for the tool.

I love this product because it reduces the time it takes to have a great design, and it saves a TON of money! Zippity Doo's Head Lice Prevention Products Review & Giveaway

Growing up many of us had probably had lice or known someone who has. I will admit, I had lice in middle school, which I got from my 7 year old sister.  Since I had terribly curly hair, my parents decided it would be better to shave my head to 1 in. long than to deal with the lice.  Bad idea on their part, but it did make it easy to get rid of the lice. This was pretty much the worst time of my life-I was horribly teased for being a "poodle" and couldn't explain that I had been forced to shave it because of my parents.  I was too embarrassed to tell anyone I had lice.

I wish I had a good product back then that could have helped to prevent the horrible incident that shaped my adolescence.  I have worried about what would happen if my kids got lice. Of course I wouldn't take the "easy" route and shave their heads.  But I would like to find a great alternative-like using products that prevent head lice.  I may have found the answer-Zippity Doo's Head Lice Prevention Products!

The detangling spray works well at getting the knots out, and the shield spray for the finishing touch is great.  This is a great product for anyone with little ones in school!
