Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil for Hair Treatment Review & Giveaway

I have always had hair that is dry and frizzy. It takes a lot to get it where it needs to be! Over the years, I have learned how to keep it more moisturized, but it still needs a little something sometimes!  I was excited to try the Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil for Hair Treatment!  Coconut oil has been found to reduce the protein loss remarkably for both undamaged and damaged hair when used as a pre-wash and post-wash grooming product. Both sunflower and mineral oils do not help at all in reducing the protein loss from hair.

Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil for Hair Treatment is specially made for hair application. It has a slightly higher amount of protein than our other coconut oils, due to the presence of coconut solids. This Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is a truly unrefined coconut oil. This oil has made my hair softer and shinier. I have super curly hair, and it has made my curls more defined and I don't have to use so much gel. I am able to get the pretty curls I like without all the crunchiness from hair product buildup!

The founders of Tropical Traditions are Brian and Marianita Shilhavy.  In 1998 Brian  and Marianita returned to the Philippines with their three children and renovated Marianita's old family farmhouse. By this time the coconut industry was severely depressed due to the negative U.S. campaigns against tropical oils in the 1980s and 1990s. Coconut farmers could no longer support their families on the income generated from harvesting coconuts. This couple tried a method the older generation used to extract the oil by grating the fresh coconut, extracting the coconut milk, and then letting the coconut milk stand in a covered container for about 24 hours. After about 24 hours, the oil naturally separates from the water producing a crystal clear oil that retains the full scent and taste of coconuts.  This proved successful, and they began using this for their own families.  They still use traditional methods for their products today!

I have super curly hair.  Recently I got it cut.  Super short. Shorter than I wanted to. New Look-for me and my blog!

I am not always a big fan of change.  It can be good but sometimes its just plain scary. Like my hair.  If any of you are my friends or former classmates, you probably remember me for my crazy hair.  Big, poofy, frizzy, and out of control.  Being called names like afro, poodle, and frizzball were daily occurrences.  Well, fast forward to now.  Over the years of course I learned how to control it, style it and make it look normal.  I have had the same hair style since I met my husband-long,curly, kind of frizzy and usually up in a ponytail.  It was too long to wear down cause it just got in the way.  6 1/2 years later, I decided to go for it and change to a whole new style!! I chopped my hair to midway between my shoulders and my chin.  I look like a whole new person and I feel great! I guess this is how they feel when you go on TV and get a makeover! You feel refreshed and beautiful!  The best part is I can do so much with it and instead of being so curly like when I was younger, my hair has turned wavy.  So I am feeling fabulous,even if it is Monday!! ☺ 

You may have also noticed changes to the blog! We changed the color scheme to a brighter color (although of course its still pink!!) and added some great ads and sponsor ads!!  We are really growing now, so thank you to all the great supporters who have shared our blog via twitter, facebook and your own blogs!!
