Glee Gum Chocolate Making Kit Review and Giveaway!

Many things taste best when they are homemade!  I love fresh goodies from the kitchen! Sweets are the way to my heart for sure! I was so excited to get to try out a sweet homemade treat from Glee Gum! And even more excited to actually try to make it myself! Glee Gum offers great diy candy kits for your family to make at home! Chocolate, Gummy and Chewing Gum kits are all available for you to make!

I got to try the Make Your Own Chocolate Kit

Product Description:
Mixing elements of chemistry with world culture and history, this delicious kit contains everything you'll need to make 8 ounces of dark chocolate. Can be made on the stove or with a microwave - adult supervision is recommended! Great for class room activities, scout troops, birthday parties, home school, or after school. Makes a great gift for kids (ages 8 & up)!
Inside each Make Your Own Chocolate Kits you'll find: organic cocoa butter, cocoa powder, confectioner's sugar, starter crystals, a temperature indicator, paper candy liners, instructions, and the story of chocolate.
All you have to do is melt the cocoa butter, add the cocoa powder and sugar. Stir, stir, stir until it cools to the right temperature; add the starter crystals so that the chocolate "tempers," and enjoy delicious home-made chocolate from scratch! By the way, you also get some cacao beans - we thought you might like to taste a few.

Each Chocolate Kit Makes 8 oz. of dark chocolate!

Now, when you make the chocolate, don't be like me and do it in the microwave, even though the box says you can. It cooks way too fast and you can't pour the chocolate in the molds. I loved the chocolate, it tasted amazing. It just didn't come out as pretty as I wanted it to! In the future I would cook it on the stove, and you have to get it just right so they come out beautiful!  I was just glad the despite my goof, the chocolate tasted great and the kids liked it and had fun making it!

The dangers of Candy

Ok so if you are a mom you are probably always looking out for choking hazards. And that includes the mounds of Halloween candy your kids got from trick or treating. Well I have a story that will make you even more cautious!!

While things like hard candies and lollipops seem like obvious things to be cautious with, have you thought about things like smarties, m&m's, skittles or other SMALL candies? Likely not. I know I didn't!

Friday I was visiting with our family advocate from my daughter's preschool. I told the girls if they behaved they could have candy when we were done. I let them each pick one out. My 4 year old picked out a Reese's PB cup and my 2 1/2 year old chose smarties. (see where this is going yet?)

Well I went to do laundry and came back to my 2 1/2 yr old SCREAMING and saying "My nose My nose!!!" Guess what? She stuck a smartie up there. Yup! OMG I couldn't believe it, especially because only a few days before I was saying how great it was nobody has put anything up there nose yet. After about 15 minutes of having her blow her nose while we waited for daddy to come home to take us to the Dr., the piece of candy came out. I have hardly ever been so scared in my life!

So please let my experience be a warning to all parents: even though it is small enough not to choke on, it could make its way to other parts of the body!! It only took about 2-3 minutes to happen!
